북이탈리아의 베르첼리 출생. 본명 Giovanni Antonio Bazzi. 
소도마는 별명으로 '남색(男色)'이라는 뜻이다. 
1490년경 밀라노에 나와, 당시 이 곳에서 활약하던 
레오나르도 다 빈치로부터 결정적인 영향을 받았다
