부활-MEMLING
등잔대 앞의 아론 -마르크 샤갈(Marc Chagall, 1887~1985) 1955-1966년, 유화, 59.5×47cm, 성서 메시지 미술관, 니스, 프랑스 초현실주의 화가인 마르크 샤갈은 성서의 메시지를 소재로 한 연작을 그렸다. 이 작품은 등잔대 앞에서 하느님의 말씀에 귀를 기울이는 출애굽 시대의 이스라엘 지도자 아론을 표현한 것이다. 아론은 유다교의 상징인 메노라(일곱 촛대) 앞에 서 있다. 그는 하느님의 말씀이 적혀 있는 옷을 입고서 어떻게 하면 그 말씀을 백성들 사이에서 구현할 수 있는지 명상하는 듯한 자세로 서 있다. 십자가에 못 박힌 성 베드로 1600년,캔버스에 유화, 230×175cm, 로마, 산타 마리아 델 포폴로 성당, 카라바지오, 미켈란젤로 메리시 다(Caravaggio, Michelangelo Merisi da ; 1573-1610) 바로크 화가. 카라바지오는 바로크 회화를 여는데 지대한 역할을 한 대표적인 화가이다. 그는 1584년 밀라노의 화가 시모네 페테르차노에게 사사하고 그 후 로마로 가서 처음에는 빈곤과 병고로 비참한 생활을 하였으나, 뒤에 추기경 델 몬테의 후원으로 화가로서 이름을 떨치기 시작했다. 그는 로마에서의 13년 동안, 후에 전 유럽에 영향을 끼치게 되는 획기적인 양식을 만들어냈다. 그가 원한 것은 그가 본 그대로의 진실이었고 이를 위해서는 추(醜)한 것까지도 받아들여야 한다고 생각했다. 따라서 그는 고전적인 '이상적 미'를 거부하고 미술에 대한 새로운 인식을 주장했다. 이 때문에 당시 많은 사람들은 그가 관객들에게 충격을 주고자 할 뿐 미와 전통을 전혀 존중하지 않는 화가라고 생각하기도 했다.
